ASB Class of 2025 Honored at Second Graduation Ceremony

American School of Bahrain celebrated its second graduating cohort at the school’s annual graduation ceremony on May 28, 2025. The event honored the accomplishments of the Class of 2025, whose students  continue to raise the bar for academic and personal achievement at one of Bahrain’s most forward-thinking international schools.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of H.E. Nawal bin Ibrahim Al Khater, Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies and Performance at the Ministry of Education, who attended on behalf of the Minister of Education and personally presented diplomas to the graduates.

The accomplishments of the 2025 graduating cohort reflect the school’s rising reputation for academic excellence and university preparedness. Sushmita Shanmugam (heading  to King’s College London) was recognized with the Academic Distinction Award,  Aya Chafi (going to University of Bahrain) received the CAS Community Leadership Award and Jad Choueiry (going to American University of Beirut) was honored with the Athletic Achievement Award.

Graduates from the Class of 2025 have secured placements at top global institutions, including Imperial College London, University College of London, University of Toronto, University of Edinburgh, McGill University, University of Manchester, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Pennsylvania State University, amongst others.

They follow in the footsteps of ASB’s inaugural Class of 2024, whose graduates earned acceptances to equally prestigious universities and received national honors—including Abdulrahman Albinali, recipient of the Crown Prince International Scholarship (now studying at University of Edinburgh), and Muath AlSabbah (now studying at Pennsylvania State University) and Ali Ghazy (now studying at Cesar Ritz College), both awarded Ministry of Education scholarships and and congratulated by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

"Graduation is not only a celebration of academic achievement—it is a reflection of who our students have become," said Dr. Juan Saavedra, Middle & High School Principal of ASB. "This class has demonstrated integrity, ambition, and global-mindedness, and we are excited to see where their paths lead."

Reflecting on the journey so far, Mr. Dave McMaster, School Director, shared: "Our second graduating class affirms the long-term vision of ASB—building a community of learners who are not only academically prepared but also ready to lead and contribute meaningfully to the world around them."
